アメリカ合衆国で実施されていた大統領選で民主党ジョー・バイデンがペンシルベニア州を制し、勝利が確実となった。カマラ・ハリスが黒人女性として史上初の副大統領に就任することになった。このニュースにアメリカのSF作家たちも次々と祝福のコメントをツイートしている。
SFWA (アメリカSFファンタジー作家協会) の会長で、ジョー・バイデンと同じ“ロビネット”のミドルネームを持つメアリ・ロビネット・コワルは、「私のミドルネームは、祖母とバイデンさんと同じものです。次期大統領とは血縁関係はありませんが、家族のように喜んでいます」と祝福。
